The Trees at Ivy Hill

A baseline inventory of all native, original (non-planted) trees on the cemetery grounds was conducted in March 2008 for the Ivy Hill Cemetery Historic Preservation Society.  All tree sizes were inventoried in non-forested, open sections of cemetery.  Only large, mature trees were inventoried in forested sections; saplings and younger trees were not included.  Much of the canopy is dominated by oak species and the majority of the trees are old-age.

You can now look at the trees mentioned above on line.  Use the Link - Find Native Trees... below.   We are linking information on the trees and their locations and also to the map.  Work is underway on a plan that may let you sponsor or adopt a tree in memory of someone.    New:   the table below lists
native, original  trees on the cemetery grounds by name and type and also provids a link, in most cases to WickipediA, so that you can find out more information about the type of  tree selected.  Keep checking back because you may find out here first how this is all progressing.
